Siren- 2024

Siren’s are a mythological creature dating back to ancient Greece. They were fabled to have lived on an island and to have lured sailors to their deaths in dangerous waters with their irresistible song. My work in this series addresses what I believe a modern day Siren is; graceful, sexy, dangerous and powerful. The song (the seduction) that they possess is a metaphor for how they are restricted in this singular theme of female allure. A Siren not pigeon- holed to the female, in 2024 they are varying gender identities in my work, with fluid non confining visual elements, and the depiction of androgynous beauty. Like the artwork in Disillusion (2022-2023), this work is about the idea of seduction and the post modern sublime.
